The difference between a service board and a normal PC motherboard

Service Board

The motherboard for a common home PC is more demanding for performance and functionality, while the server board is a motherboard developed specifically to meet server applications (high stability, high-performance, highly compatible environments). Because of the server's high operating time, high operating strength, as well as huge data conversion volume, power consumption, I/O throughput, so the server board requirements are quite stringent.

Differences from ordinary PC boards

First, the server board typically supports at least two processors--the chipset is different (often a two-way server, and the one-way server sometimes uses a desktop board).

Second, almost any part of the server supports ECC, memory, processor, chipset (but higher-order desktops also start to support ECC)

Third, the server many places are redundant, high-end servers and even CPU, memory has redundancy, mid-range server, hard disk, power supply redundancy is very common, but low-end server is often the desktop of the modified products, but also choose a first-line large power supply.

Four, because the server network load is relatively large, so the server network card is generally using TCP/IP uninstall engine network card, high efficiency, fast, CPU footprint, but the current high-end desktop computers are also beginning to use high-end network cards or even dual network cards.

Five,In the hard disk, there are many and more servers that will replace SATA with SAS/SCSI.
